Chelsea Blow Dry

21 minutesInstructor: John Vial

Revlon Global Influencer and former Vidal Sassoon Creative Director, John Vial’s hairstyling tutorial guides you through the essentials of product use, together with hand, brush and dryer positioning to achieve this full editorial friendly blow-dry. The final result is a big, beautiful blowout with references to 1980s glamour and a nod to John’s Chelsea clientele at Real Hair and the new Salon Sloan.

Wet Directional Set

21 minutesInstructor: Roy Hayward

Roy Hayward's tutorial demonstrates a classic wet directional set, a traditional technique reinvented for modern high drama. Roy demonstrates roller placement and over-direction to create root drag for a soft blend around the parting, and how to create a dropped curl effect. The hair is finished with a blow dry using a natural bristle brush, then a tail comb to lend an editorial feel.

Wet Brickwork Set

25 minutesInstructor: Roy Hayward

Roy Hayward's second setting tutorial is a classic wet brickwork set and dressing. The first row is over-directed back so as not to place any harsh partings in the hair. Subsequent rows are added in a traditional pattern, to allow better placement in the side sections around the contours of the head to keep the hair away from the face. The outcome is cascading and extravagant curly tresses with a fashioned off-the-face movement.

Curvature Volume Set

19 minutesInstructor: Victor Picolotto

Respected Australian hairdresser and educator Vic Piccolotto's hairdressing tutorial is a curved set on a graduated shape. Within the video, Vic offers valuable advice on curved sections, incorporating pivoting roller placement on and off the base, adding volume to the hair, brushing out and root direction. The result is a glamorous coiffure set that works with the graduated haircut to add volume and movement.

Reverse Pin Curl Set

25 minutesInstructor: Sharon Blain

Australian hairdressing icon and multi-award winning hairdresser and educator Sharon Blain teaches a classic reverse pin curl set based on traditional setting techniques for a modern take on vintage hair. Sharon demonstrates the direction of flat wave placement when considering natural partings and hair length. She demonstrates finger dexterity and the direction of reverse pin curls and how to brush through from the root area and place with the same control as wet finger waves. The final result is an updated take on a classic technique reminiscent of 1930s Hollywood stars Mae West and Jean Harlow.
