This week’s episode of 5Star’s Extreme Hair Wars begins with a stylist’s staple, the ponytail and challenges the contestants to push it to its limits. We love a ponytail at MHDPro, and we think this is one of the most satisfying challenges yet!

As usual, MHDPro’s own Martyn Holmes is on hand with fellow judge Robert Masciave to cast a critical eye over the procedings, as four more hopefuls enter the competition to be crowned in next week’s finale.

Self-confessed fairy lover Shelley Pengelly from Wales produces a dark and fantastical look using tape extensions with a pony that divides multiple types. Newcastle based stylist Joe Stoker also takes it dark and moody with a 1920’s punk style using household screws.

Russian born Anoushka Romanenkova has also raided the tool cupboard with electrical tape to fashion a fencing style face mask, made up of many criss-crossed ponytails.

The final contestant Rick Roberts meanwhile sculpts a tail-less pony style in a more undone up do with plenty of hair jewels.

Extreme Hair Wars Theme – Under the Sea

The final challenge before the final is themed ‘Under The Sea’ and the teams can’t be shellfish with their creative vision!

Rick channels a sexy urchin look, using drain brushes to craft a punky style, while Shelley produces a shimmering sea goddess style complete with star fish, sea coral and pearls.

Joe Stoker uses hair pieces set in actual seaater through resin to emulate a lady of sea who looks truly like she’s underwater. Finally, Anoushka Romanenkova’s vision involves a giant hairy sea horse!
